    • Norman LeRoy Day, 74, of Alpine, Wyo., returned to his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2007, at the Banner Estrella Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona, after a valiant fight with asbestosis.
Norm was born in Weston, Idaho, on Feb. 13, 1932, to Leland Norman and Novis Payne Day. He married Norma Lea Williams on Jan. 21, 1951 in Nyssa, Oregon. The marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. Three children were born to this union. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he held the office of High Priest. He held many callings and served in the church throughout his lifetime.

Norm worked at FMC Corporation in Pocatello, Idaho, for 35 years. He was a mechanic and shop supervisor. He retired in 1988, when he and his sweetheart moved to Alpine, Wyoming.
He loved the great outdoors. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, snowmobiling and camping. He helped many members of his family remodel their homes, in addition to working on his own. He loved family reunions and getting his family together whenever he could. He loved his extended family as if they were his own. He especially loved western music and to dance with his wife and friends when they spent winters in Quartsite, Arizona.
Norm is survived by his wife of 55 years, Norma Day of Alpine, Wyo.; two sons, Steven (Shelley) Day and Michael (Lori) Day of Blackfoot; one daughter, Debra L. (Lynn) Gerber of Pocatello; two brothers, Elven (Pricilla) Day of Sun City, Ariz., and LaVelle (Marie) Day of Pennsylvania; one brother-in-law; three sisters-in-law; eight grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Kathleen Heddin, his wife's parents, and two sisters-in-law.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 11, 2007, at the Thomas L.D.S. Church. Burial will follow at the Riverside-Thomas Cemetery. Family will meet with friends on Wednesday evening from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave., and one hour prior to services at the church.
